Film Review

Part 3 focuses on 1969 and the extreme police and military violence directed at anti-government protests in the US, Japan, Italy and Germany.

In the US, 1969 saw the occupation of derelict University of California-Berkeley property for the formation of a People’s Park and the formation of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. The latter would be destroyed by heavy CIA/FBI infiltration and assassination and false imprisonment of many of its leaders. 1969 also saw the sidetracking of many US antiwar protestors into environmental activism, women’s and gay liberation and alternative lifestyles (the hippy peace, love and truth movement, Woodstock and communal living).

In Germany, the students rejecting bourgeois capitalist lifestyles formed the Kommune movement. The filmmakers erroneously describe the Baader-Meinhoff Gang (aka the Red Army Faction), responsible for setting fire to department stores and warehouses, as a fringe offshoot of the the Kommune movement. The Baader-Meinhoff Gang was exposed in the early 90s as a CIA/NATO-driven product of Operation Gladio.*

The filmmakers also mischaracterize Italy’s Red Brigades as a violent offshoot of the Italian antifascist movement that mobilized tens of thousands of workers and students. The Red Brigades, responsible for tens of thousands of false flag bombings and assassinations, was also created and run by Operation Gladio. The Italian government used the Red Brigades “terrorist” activities events to justify the adoption of extreme repressive measures, including the imprisonment of 30,000 antifascist activists.

Also disappointing is the filmmakers’ failure to identify the root cause of Japan’s anti-American protests (ie the CIA funding of their single party government). In his book Blowback, Chalmers Johnson compares Japan’s US-controlled post-war government to East Germany’s dictatorship. Also see CIA supported Japan’s ruling party during Cold War era

This is a four-part documentary series, based on archival video footage, of a global uprising that took place between 1965-75. Although the uprising began with student protests opposing the Vietnam war, disgruntled workers and farmers joined in with students in France, Italy, Chile and Brazil and Japan. The main weakness of this series is the absence of a unifying thread. Although the historical film footage is superb, the scattershot approach and the misidentification of various Operation Gladio programs (as genuine leftist movements) makes it impossible for the viewer to draw any real conclusions.

Part 1 mainly focuses on the US anti-Vietnam War movement. However it also briefly examines the youth uprisings that occurred in the UK, Italy, Germany and Japan, as well as the first international conference of the Non-Aligned Movement* in Havana in 1963.

For me, the most interesting part of the film was the International War Crimes Tribunal Jean Paul Sartre and Bertrand Russell organized in 1967 to investigate US war crimes in Vietnam.

*Operation Gladio is the code name for a CIA/NATO backed paramilitary network that carried out thousands of false flag terrorist operations in Cold War Europe. False Flag Terrorism 101

The following presentation was part of Left Out forum, which 9-11 Truth organized to coincide with the Left Forum held in June 2017 in New York. It featured Dr Kevin Barret (the speaker) and other activists who were denied permission to speak at the Left Forum.*

In his talk, Barrett traces false flag terrorism back to Operation Gladio. The latter was a US military operation in Europe involving bombings and other terrorist attacks targeting civilians that were falsely blamed on left wing groups (eg the Red Brigades, the Baadar Meinhoff Gang and the KGB).

The overall purpose of Operation Gladio terrorism was to influence European elections at a time when Communist politicians enjoyed large majorities in the polls.

The Purpose of Trauma-Based Mind Control

According to Barrett, this strategy represents a form of trauma based mind control or  psyops (psychological operation). As with Gladio, the cumulative effect of such attacks is to swing the vote for right wing authoritarian leaders who promise people protection and security.

Barrett has collaborated with ex-CIA undercover officer Robert David Steele to conduct extensive research into the false flag attacks in London in 2005 and 2017; in Manchester in 2017; in Paris in 2015, in Nice in 2016; in Munich in 2016, in San Bernadino in 2015 and in Orlando in 2016.

In this presentation, he briefly summarizes the pattern of anomalies suggesting each of these events was staged by individuals with links to the US military and/or US intelligence.

He has written about them in a series of books – Another French Flag: Bloody Tracks from Paris to San Bernadino, Orlando False Flag: the Clash of History, and We Are Not Charlie Hebdo: Free Thinkers Question the French 9/11.

It’s Barrett’s view that both the British and French false flags resulted in the defeat of left leaning candidates (Corbyn in Britain and Melenchon in France) who were riding high in the polls – just like the Operation Gladio false flags of the 50s, 60s and 70s.

9/11: Mother of All False Flag Events

Barrett maintains 9/11 was the mother of all false flag events, in addition to decapitating the burgeoning antiglobalization move (sending 75,000 into the streets of Seattle in 1999), 9/11 and its aftermath transferred immense power to Bush’s neocon supporters (Cheney, Rumsfeld  et all), enabling them to suspend civil liberties, increase surveillance and police state powers and carry out massive US military expansion in the Middle East.

*Barrett also mentions the “gatekeeping” function played by the “official” US Left as regards 9-11 and CIA and US military involvement in assassinations, false flag events and the funding of ISIS. I have always attributed this phenomenon to the infiltration of the US left by the CIA and CIA-funded gatekeeping foundations. The History and Purpose of False Flag Operations

Part 3 of Counter-Intelligence: Shining a Light on Black Operations

“The Strategy of Tension” is Part 3 of a five part documentary by Scott Noble called Counter-intelligence: Shining a Light on Black Operations. In it, filmmaker Scott Noble offers a textbook examination of the use of “false flag operations” to manipulate public opinion and our elected representatives.

While “white” propaganda is openly acknowledged by the country that disseminates it (e.g. Voice of America), with “black” propaganda the state sponsor is hidden. A false flag operation is an extreme form of black propaganda (usually involving murder) which is falsely blamed on an enemy.

The CIA has a long history of planting bombs and creating mayhem to achieve specific political objectives. In 1953, CIA operatives posed as communists to plant bombs and threaten Iranians opposed to democratically elected people who didn’t support Mohammad Mossadegh. The instability this created laid the groundwork for a military coup that removed Mossadegh from power and replaced him with the fascist US-friendly despot Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

In a 2002 false flag operation, members of the opposition shot and killed their own protestors and blamed it on the Venezuelan military. They then used this atrocity to justify the CIA-sponsored coup against Chavez. This false flag was exposed when it came out that a video condemning the event was filmed before it actually occurred.

Operation Gladio

Most of Part 3 concerns Operation Gladio, an extensive network coordinated by the CIA, MI6 (British intelligence) and NATO, which orchestrated numerous false flag bombings, kidnappings and mass shootings throughout Europe between 1945 and the early nineties. By blaming the bombings and other terrorist acts on leftists and communists, the mission of Gladio was to discredit left leaning parties and to install repressive governments that were more friendly to US interests.

In Italy, Gladio was linked to the Masonic P2 (Propaganda Duo) Lodge, the mafia and Italian bankers, industrialists and fascists. In 1978, Gladio operatives kidnapped Italian prime minister Aldo Moro and murdered him. This was just after he went against Henry Kissinger’s warning not to incorporate the Italian communist party into his coalition government.

In Belgium, Gladio operatives pursued a strategy of storming supermarkets and mowing down shoppers with machine guns. By posing as leftists, they hoped to generate support for a right wing government that would agree to house American nuclear missiles on Belgian soil.

A Common Pretext for War

False flag events are also a common strategy for instigating war. In 1931, the Japanese blew up their own railroad and blamed it on Manchurian dissidents to justify the invasion of Manchuria. Eight years later, Hitler staged a false flag attack on a Polish radio station to justify the invasion of Poland.

Some false flag events are totally fictitious – the enemy is merely accused of an atrocity which hasn’t actually occurred. The best example is the so-called Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964, in which the Johnson administration accused the North Vietnamese of torpedoing the USS Maddox. Johnson used this non-event to justify a full scale land invasion of Vietnam.

That’s Just a Conspiracy Theory

Whistleblowers, researchers, historians and journalists who expose false flag events are commonly accused of indulging in conspiracy theories. The implication is that only people who are mentally unbalanced or grossly misinformed have any interest in exposing historical events that have been purged from the public record. According to Noble, this is a remarkably effective tactic for suppressing public discussion of government misconduct.
