Media Completely Ignore US Secret Agent’s Trial for Terrorism In Venezuela

There has been zero mention of the case in national U.S. media this week, including nothing in The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, The Washington Post, Fox News, or USA Today. This is striking, as the news was published on the largest newswire service, Reuters, meaning that virtually every outlet in the West must have seen it and could freely republish it themselves or use its material for a story.

CARACAS — Unless you read the local Venezuelan press, you are unlikely to know that an American secret agent is currently standing trial in Venezuela on charges of terrorism and weapons trafficking.

Matthew John Heath was arrested in September outside Amuay and Cardon oil refineries in possession of a submachine gun, a grenade launcher, C4 explosives, a satellite phone and bricks of $20 bills. The Venezuelan government also alleges that he was found carrying a small coin or badge that CIA employees use to prove their identity to one another without raising suspicions. On Wednesday, Heath pled not guilty to all charges.

  1. The plot thickens. Rather, it deepens, time-wise, because I’ve been interested in CIA shenanigans for years, ever since reading “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man,” by John Perkins, published in 2004. It reads like a spy thriller, except that it’s the true story of how Perkins was groomed to subvert mainly third-world governments as an economist selling grandiose schemes for the purpose of entrapping them in unrepayable debt. The catch was that the governments were required to hire US contractors to build their airports, highways, pipelines, and other infrastructure under the pretext of future economic boom, but the real purpose was to bankrupt the governments and make them dependent on the US for their economic survival.

In the book, Perkins refers to the CIA’s “jackals,” often, meaning that if the targeted governments did not go along with the agenda, the CIA would send in it’s “jackals” to engineer compliance with the US’s wishes.

I’ve also read “The Secret History of the CIA,” by Joseph J. Trento, which documents the early days of the CIA through the papers of a now deceased operative, who left his papers to the book’s author under the proviso that he would wait ten years before publishing anything on them.

Finally, through your site, I now follow the blog Rielpolitik, which recently posted an interview between former US Congressman Ron Paul and Robert Kennedy, Jr., who has now been banned from Instagram (parent company Facebook) because of his “anti-scientific” stance on vaccines.

The interview was long, over an hour-and-a-half, but I watched all of it in the wee hours. Kennedy starts by talking about the CIA’s possible involvement with the assassinations of both John F. Kennedy and of his father, Robert. He said that the month JFK was killed, November, 1963, he had planned to get the US out of the Vietnam war, starting in December, 1963, because the US was experiencing too many casualties to too little purpose.

So this article about Heath’s possible link to the CIA fits in with other books and articles I’ve read over the years, and it’s no surprise that the US wants to get rid of Maduro in order to control that vast pot of oil he’s sitting on. Another book, “Open Veins of Latin America: five centuries of the pillage of a continent,” by Eduardo Galeano, the book that Hugo Chavez (now deceased president of Venezuela) gave to Barrack Obama when he was US president, goes in a different direction but one that also implicates the US government and its corporations in the empire-building agenda that has prevailed ever since the Europeans discovered the New World and its vast resources.
