New York Hospitals Treating Coronavirus Patients with Vitamin C

Seriously sick coronavirus patients in New York state’s largest hospital system are being given massive doses of vitamin C — based on promising reports that it’s helped people in hard-hit China, The Post has learned.

Dr. Andrew G. Weber, a pulmonologist and critical-care specialist affiliated with two Northwell Health facilities on Long Island, said his intensive-care patients with the coronavirus immediately receive 1,500 milligrams of intravenous vitamin C.

Identical amounts of the powerful antioxidant are then readministered three or four times a day, he said.

Each dose is more than 16 times the National Institutes of Health’s daily recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C, which is just 90 milligrams for adult men and 75 milligrams for adult women.

The regimen is based on experimental treatments administered to people with the coronavirus in Shanghai, China, Weber said.

“The patients who received vitamin C did significantly better than those who did not get vitamin C,” he said.

    • I agree, Aunty. I was quite surprised really. Intravenous Vitamin C hasn’t been available in the US until recently. Megadose (25,000 mg) intravenous Vitamain C is offered here in NZ as an alternative to chemotherapy in cancer patients.

  1. I’m almost ready to launch my patented vitamin that has all the letters of the alphabet in it. It’s called Alphabet Vitamin. Guaranteed to cure whatever ails you, in any language. You’ll be able to order a can, jar, bottle or tetra pak, liquid or pill form. No known side effects but 3 times more effective if you are more than semi literate.

      • It is a good thing that Tubularsock is locked up in Tubularsock’s bunker by order of none-the-less the Governor, so as to give Tubularsock the time to clear a few things up here DrB.

First the traditional written Chinese language is pretty much the same throughout world.

It is the speaking of Chinese that gets a little mixed up. Mandarin was considered the national language spoken mainly in the North and Cantonese is spoken in the South.

However, there are so many dialects in different regions but all based on the same writing system.

That being said, Tubularsock, years ago studied Mandarin but realized that Tubularsock was having difficulty with just understanding English, Tubularsock’s native language, so Tubularsock set his minuscule Mandarin aside BUT NEVER his chopsticks!

        Now for even more clarity.

It may be true that Sha’Tara has declared that Tubularsock is her #1 guru (OM!) right after you, DrB declared your JUDGMENT that Tubularsock, “. . . a BAD influence …” on her.

So let Tubularsock clear this up. It is a FACT that Tubularsock and Sha T’ara fell off the same “loony-tune-train” as it passed through this plane before it stopped at the station. And Tubularsock fell off first due to age before beauty but WE both had the “loony-tune-influence” thereby being BOTH an influence on each other.

As for the term “bad”, Tubularsock assumes that you meant “bad” as “Hey dude, that is some BAAAD shit!” Which would mean really, really, really GOOD!

With that, Tubularsock has to get back to walking on water ……… OM.
