Hundreds of Drone Operators Quit Air Force

The traumatic nature of their work is leading drone operators to quit the Air Force by the hundreds.

In the following video, former senior drone operator Brandon Bryant expresses deep regret for the six years he spent with the US drone program between 2005 and 2011. It especially bothered him that he was expected to fire on targets without being clear of their identities: “We didn’t even really know who we were firing at.”

Last November the human rights group Reprieve published a study indicating attempts to kill 41 alleged terrorists in Pakistan and Yemen resulted in more than 1100 civilian deaths.

  2. In the video, this former drone operator states that there are still many, many drone operators that don’t even have a conscience and that there is push to conform to blindly and willfully kill innocent people and then to become complicit with the lies that are told about casualties as opposed to actual target hits.

This may seem to be good news for many but I don’t think it is.

When this guy was asked by the family members of people that he had killed, “why did their loved ones have to die since they were not bad people/,” all he could tell them was that, “He didn’t know. It was a mistake.” To me, that’s not good enough. And that is why I have said time and time again that we are willingly complicit in murder when we take on a job that requires us to kill someone who has personally done us NO harm! I would NEVER, EVER do that. And it would seem that those who remain in that line of work, choose to do so because they have ‘killing fever’ and quite obviously. love what they do and wouldn’t change jobs for the world.

    • You’re right, Shelby. The only conclusion I can draw from all this is that the (mainly white men) who participate in the drone program are deeply flawed human beings. There is something terribly wrong with the way white America is raising their children. Theoretically some of this could be remediated in adulthood with the proper influences. Recent research has shown that the human personality isn’t fixed and inflexible as we once believed.

Sadly it appears the ruling elite likes their sheeple flawed and does everything in their power to turn them out and keep them that way.
