WTF? How can the EU call for air strikes against ISIS when they’re backing them financially by buying their oil?
From Press TV :
In a briefing to the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee, EU Ambassador to Iraq Jana Hybas-kova said some European countries have purchased crude from the ISIL.
She, however, refused to disclose any names despite pressure by some Parliament members to do so.
The EU official also warned against any support by the West for separatist Kurdish groups who, she said, would destabilize the Middle East.
Earlier reports accused Turkey of buying and transporting oil from both the ISIL and Qaeda-linked Nusra Front. According to the reports, Western intelligence agencies could track ISIL oil shipments as they moved across Iraq and Turkey.
ISIL reportedly controls eleven oil fields in northern Iraq as well as Syria’s Raqqa province.
US intelligence officials estimate that the Takfiri militants earn more than USD 3 million a day from oil profit, theft, human trafficking and ransom. They say the militants sell oil and other products via established networks in Turkey, Jordan and Iraq’s Kurdistan region. Turkey has denied reports of involvement in ISIL’s oil smuggling operations.
There is just nothing more exciting than making a quid on the quiet. One can just imagine the rubbing of hands together ( in glee) by the merchants of profits with another deal with Isis.

Fortunately it ain’t on the quiet no more, thanks to Press TV and the power of social media. Hopefully we can break this thing wide open like we did with Ukraine – before the US goes to war with Iran and Russia over Syria.

“before the US goes to war with Iran and Russia over Syria.”
It would merely delay the inevitable. The U.S. is determined to provoke a war and that should be widely understood by now. Unfortunately, it is not a question of ‘if’ but of ‘when’.
“EU Members Purchasing Oil from ISIS”
I am so not surprised! SIGH!!

Don’t despair, Shelby. Obama is clearly losing his grip. We whacked him in Ukraine – we can do it in Syria.

Exactly — It’s coming out into the open now instead of going on in the shadows. Nothing new here, except transparency — isn’t it GRAND?

” we can do it in Syria.”
I was so hoping that when Vladimir Putin ‘red-lined’ Obama’s ass last year over Obama’s ‘red-line on Syria that that would be the end of it although I did write that it wasn’t over. And here we are, a year later with Obama basically stating that Assad had better keep quiet when the U.S. bombs his country. For real? Why should Assad keep quiet, Obama and the other warmongers in Washington would never keep quiet if Syria was bombing the U.S. to stop U.S. terrorists aka ‘the U.S. military’ from bombing them.

It seems that the anti-imperialists (and Russia) are getting quicker on the draw all the time. I’m willing to wager that Obama will change his mind about Syria.

I would have thought that the people who fought the Iraq War would have made sure that the oil fields were in safe hands before they left. My goodness, is it not possible to protect an asset like the oilfields? I though this was one of the reasons why they went into Iraq in the first place. How easy was it for Isil to get hold of them?! And now they find willing buyers for the oil and make big bucks out of it every day? Isn’t there a way to stop all this? The way to beat Isis would be to stop their weapons’ supply and their money supply. But maybe it is more complicated than this and I am just naive.

No, you’re not naive. Clearly they don’t won’t to defeat ISIS. It’s not in their interest to defeat ISIS.

Not in their interest? Sorry, I cannot understand this. How can this not be in their interest? Why bombard them if you do not want to defeat them? Is their aim to have a never ending war? This can’t be true. But if it is true, then it goes beyond everything that I can understand.

Auntyuta, the War on Terror is a permanent war. It won’t end until the people who currently run Washington DC and Wall Street are thrown out of power. In the US the main way politicians achieve and keep power is to put people in a permanent state of fear and then promise to protect them. I’m going to do a post about this tomorrow.
The ISIS was created and trained by the CIA and currently receives funding and weapons from them. Here’s an excellent article by British historian Nafeez Ahmed explaining how ISIS was formed – for the purpose of overthrowing Assad in Syria, as well as justifying a permanent US military presence in the Middle East: http://uprootedpalestinians.wordpress.com/2014/09/14/how-the-west-created-isis/

Auntyuta, the Crisis of Civilisation is an excellent documentary. I’ve long been admirer of Nafeez Ahmed. No, i hadn’t seen the Rand link. It strikes me as quite disingenuous. I don’t see how the EU can justify bombing Syria and Iraq and simultaneously allow their members to buy ISIS oil. The Rand analysis conveniently doesn’t mention this. Which doesn’t surprise me, as they are mainly funded by the CIA and Pentagon.
